Let’s Show Mexico Some Appreciate

So Mexico hasn’t truly been getting a lot of appreciate lately, what with the the entire swine flu and drug war factor going on, but that suggests that bargains abound and there are far fewer tourists to deal with (plus you can get to Mexico with JetBlue’s all-you-can-jet $599 pass).

But what to do when you’re there? Take a cue from an insider over at the Telegraph and grab dinner at Plaza de la Constitución that overlooks Zócalo Square, the world’s third-largest square, and head 45 minutes out of town to Teotihuacán for a glimpse of what was as soon as a single of the world’s biggest cities (fitting considering that Mexico City’s the globe’s present second-largest city in the planet).

Around the world in 2000 pictures

We’ve already had our trip around the world with the striking photoart of Corinne Vionnet and maybe some of you heard of “Le Flâneur”, a stunning video of Paris created by combining 2,000 photos of the city of love by night. And now, within my arm-chair wanderlust last night, I came across “Around the world in 2000 pictures”, a photo journey through 8 cities. Photographer and video artist Alex Profit provides us with a walk through Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo, St. Petersburg, London, Berlin, Shanghai and New York (which isn’t a real world trip as all of you Travelettes will know, but we’ll leave that aside…). Especially the segues between cities are really well done and the fact that there are absolutely no people on the photographs leaves me with a slight imagination of how much effort he must have put into the postproduction, as I know shooting in busy Barcelona very well. For us, our number one priority is to keep our gear safe and protected. We are full-time travel content creators and have found ourselves relying on our camera bags for everything. A dry place, a place to keep some snacks, a place to hold all of our gear or even a place to launch the drone from.
