Is This the Coolest Hotel in Italy?
While visiting Emilia-Romagna, we spent two nights in Rimini at the duoMo hotel.
I’ve stayed at a lot of interesting and wacky hotels in my life…but nothing tops the duoMo for the sheer coolness factor.
Is this not the coolest front desk you have ever seen?! I felt like a geek taking pictures of it…but seriously!
Step off the elevator and you’re greeted by these graffiti-style mirrored room numbers.
Each floor has an honesty bar filled with beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Take a drink, write your name down on the clipboard, and you’ll be charged at the end of your stay!
Is it charming or naive? Apparently it works well for them.
The front entrance to the room, also known as AdventurousKate.com’s Rimini office…
The bed, desk and flat-screen…
Most impressive was the bathroom, complete with an incredibly deep bathtub and what I dubbed a “Jetsons toilet.”
I hate to admit this, but I kind of turned on the bathtub jets and couldn’t figure out how to turn them off — once the water level dropped, the jets sprayed all over the room, and I had to flee! About 15 minutes later, they turned off on their own, thankfully. (Later, I found out I wasn’t the only blogger in the group this happened to!)
My favorite touch: grapes and melted dark chocolate waiting on the chrome table, next to the Dior book!
The duoMo hotel is set in the city center of Rimini, close to boutiques and nightlife and away from the beach. This section of Rimini is the place to be year-round, and as a result, has far fewer tourists.
After a day of hunting truffles with dogs in Sant’Agata Feltria, we returned to find our previously quiet hotel restaurant had morphed into the hottest destination on Sunday evenings — complete with a DJ!
Oh, yes. We were there to see and be seen.
Here’s a video tour of the hotel, starting at the entrance (wait until you see the automatic doors!)
Granted, it’s not the ideal spot for a bargain holiday in Rimini, nor is it ideally situated if you plan on spending all your time on the beach. But if you really want to be impressed, the duoMo hotel is the place for you.
Many thanks to Emilia-Romagna Tourism and Wilde & Partner PR for hosting me on the Delicious Emilia-Romagna Blog Trip. All opinions, as always, are my own.
